Getting Prevail to work for you.
The minimum requirements are the bare minimum specifications we advise clients or potential clients to have to run Prevail. Again, depending on your particular speed preferences, these requirements may not produce the most sufficient working environment for you. The recommended requirements are what we recommend as proficient for running Prevail. If the performance under any of these conditions is not to your liking, consider upgrading your hardware.
The following are the minimum and recommended specifications for server and workstations on which you plan to install Prevail.
Server Minimum Specification
- Windows 2003, Novell 4.xx
- Pentium 4 or higher
- 1 GB RAM
- 20 GB available space
- IPv4 / Standard Windows network file sharing
- 100 Mbit NIC
- A virtualized server is not recommended to ensure a maximum level of performance.
Server Recommended Specification
- Windows 2003/2008 family or server operating systems (32 bit or 64 bit)
- 1 GHz or higher
- 2 GB RAM or higher (64 bit OS compatibility > 4 GB limit)
- 80 GB available space (usage varies considerably by the size of the law office) w/disk fault tolerance (RAID 5 or 6)
- IPv4 / Standard Windows network file sharing
- 1 Gigabit NIC
Workstation Minimum Specification
- Windows XP/Vista/7 (32 bit or 64 bit)
- Pentium 4
- 1 GB RAM
- Application must run in at least 16 bit "High Color" mode
- 1 GB available space
- 100 Mbit NIC
- Microsoft Word 2003/2007/2010/2013 (Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013 32-bit only) or Corel WordPerfect 10-X6
- 1024 x 768 screen resolution
Workstation Recommended Specification
- Windows XP/Vista/Win 7 (Fully service packed)
- Pentium 4 / Xeon / i3 / i5 /i7 / Dual / Quad Core or better
- 2 GB RAM
- Greater than 10gb disk space available
- 100 Mbit or 1 Gigabit NIC
- Microsoft Word 2007/2010/2013 (Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013 32-bit only) or Corel WordPerfect X3-X6 (Fully service packed)
- 1024 x 768 screen resolution in 32-bit color
Requirements For Document Merge
- Corel Word Perfect Version 10x or Higher
- Microsoft Word 2003 or later.
- Microsoft Office 2010/2013 (Full install only. "Click to Run" edition NOT supported.)
Requirements for Email Integration
- Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007/2010/2013 (32-bit only)
In order to be able to scan directly into Prevail, you will need a scanner that is TWAIN compatible with the appropriate drivers installed. Please contact your Network Administrator for assistance to confirm compatibility.
For remote access to Prevail we recommend using a Terminal Server connection or logmein Free. Due to network latency issues a VPN connection is not acceptable for providing an adequate remote access solution.
Because of variable bandwidth constraints, we discourage wireless connections. If a wireless network is necessary, we recommend Wireless N (IEEE 802.11n).
Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended to review documentation and help files within Prevail. Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional or Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard or Professional is required if you wish to generate PDF documents with the Prevail merge engine.
The Advantage Database Server will be a mandatory requirement in a LAN multi-user environment to ensure optimum performance of the Prevail Case Management software, please contact us for additional information.
